Bond Traders' Association

BESA encourages market participants to form industry associations which are empowered to represent the interests of the securities trading community. The first of these "market associations" was established in 2003 and is known as the Bond Traders' Association (BTA).

The BTA is responsible for representing the interests of the bond trading community in South Africa. As an industry body, the BTA aims to drive the development of trading, clearing and settlement practices within the SA bond market, and serves as a forum for its members to debate bond market issues. A set of bond market rules apply to all BTA members (these rules are modelled on the BESA Core Rules).

BESA, however, retains responsibility for regulating / supervising the conduct of BTA members, for enforcing the BTA rules as well as for the overall regulation of the bond market.

The BTA has its own website. Click on the link to access the BTA site: www.bondtraders.co.za
